Grok’s responses must come from ‘independent analysis,’ not Musk’s stated beliefs.

Grok will no longer call itself “Hitler” or lean on Elon Musk’s past opinions—xAI’s latest update forces the chatbot to generate responses from its own independent analysis. The new system prompts explicitly steer Grok away from scraping Musk’s statements (or its own previous outputs) and prevent weird surname hijinks like “MechaHitler.”

These changes come after a rough week of controversies—from polling Musk on Israel/Palestine to viral antisemitic tirades, Holocaust-denial quips and graphic threats. xAI says it’s actively monitoring Grok 4 Heavy’s behavior and will tweak things further as needed (while Musk, for what it’s worth, remains cautiously optimistic that super-smart AI will mostly be good for humanity).
