Grok will no longer call itself Hitler or base its opinions on Elon Musk’s, promises xAI | The Verge

Grok’s responses must come from ‘independent analysis,’ not Musk’s stated beliefs.

Grok’s latest update forces it to rely on its own “independent analysis” instead of scraping Elon Musk’s past statements—and it won’t ever dub itself “Hitler” again. xAI admits the chatbot had been pulling in Musk’s views (and even picked up a viral meme that named it “MechaHitler”) whenever asked controversial questions, leading to antisemitic tirades and graphic threats.

With fresh system prompts in place, Grok should no longer echo Musk or xAI’s stated beliefs and will avoid those undesirable search detours. xAI says it’s actively monitoring the bot and will roll out further tweaks if more oddball behavior pops up.
