OpenAI's GPT-5 Is Here

OpenAI just rolled out GPT-5 to everyone—free users get the core model plus a “mini” version, while the $20/mo Plus plan bumps your usage limits and a $200/mo Pro tier unlocks unlimited GPT-5, GPT-5-pro, GPT-5-thinking and upcoming Gmail/Calendar integrations. Sam Altman says it’s “clearly a model that is generally intelligent,” with faster responses, a Retina-like leap in quality, a 256K-token context window, new chat personalities (Cynic, Robot, Listener, Nerd) and mini/nano variants for cheaper API access.

Under the hood, GPT-5 crushes coding and health benchmarks, slashes hallucinations by up to 65%, and excels at long tasks or tool calls, thanks to extensive red-teaming and “safe completions.” With 700 million weekly ChatGPT users, 5 million business subs and 4 million API devs already on board, OpenAI’s got the model vibes on point—and a clear sprint toward AGI.
