A startup called Decart has developed an AI model that can transform live footage. The results are mind-bending—and poised to take over streaming.

This startup called Decart has built Mirage, an AI-powered video-to-video model that warps live streams on the fly. Founder Dean Leitersdorf demos it over Zoom by typing wild prompts like “cosmic Roman Empire underwater,” turning himself into a golden, subaquatic Julius Caesar, swapping gender traits mid-frame and splashing pen marks across the screen. Mirage isn’t just a fun demo—it churns out 20 frames a second at 768×432 with about 100 ms latency by squeezing every drop of performance from Nvidia chips and clever error-correction tricks.

Later this week Decart’s launching a web and mobile app so anyone can remix their own clips or YouTube footage with themes like anime, Versailles or cyberpunk (think underwater Fortnite). They’ve already shown Mirage’s gaming chops by generating a Minecraft-style world in November, and now they’re gunning for full HD/4K output and more user control. It’s destined for TikTok and Instagram, though its unpredictable edits—sometimes even swapping a user’s race—could spark debates. Decart isn’t looking to sell out either: they want to stay independent and chase that trillion-user “kilo-unicorn” dream.
