WAN Show Highlights (Oct 24, 2025)
Amazon’s latest AWS outage sent ripples through the internet, taking down everything from Twitch to Pokémon GO thanks to a DNS snafu—Linus even had Wi-Fi woes at 30,000 feet. Valve’s Counter-Strike 2 update, meanwhile, tanked its market cap to $3 billion, sparking talk of Chinese investors and possible manipulation (plus Linus insisting you just buy a real knife). And if you thought data centers couldn’t get crazier, they’re now experimenting with jet-engine turbines to feed AI workloads.
On the gadget front, Samsung showed off its AI-powered Galaxy XR headset, reviving the smart-glasses debate and even tipping toward neural interfaces. We also hear about PRIMA’s tiny vision-restoring implant, a SuperBox fiasco that bricks discounted devices, and the showdown between OpenAI’s Atlas and Microsoft’s Mico. Rounding it out: YouTube’s new AI-avatar detector, a wild Doritos-for-gun police mix-up, and Microsoft demanding a 30 percent cut from Xbox developers.
