How Awful is VR from 1994?
Linus unboxes a chunky, beige VR headset straight out of 1994 and fires up classic DOS shooters like Quake, Rise of the Triad and Descent. With laughably low res, tiny field of view and blocky graphics, it’s more retro novelty than immersive experience—but you can’t help but admire the ambition.
He then tears down the bulky hardware—CRT displays, heavy cables and primitive tracking—and marvels at how far we’ve come. Despite its flaws, early-’90s VR laid the groundwork for today’s cutting-edge headsets.
