Linus Tech Tips (LTT): Is NVIDIA Even Trying - GeForce RTX 5050 Gaming GPU Review

RTX 5050 Review TL;DR

Nvidia’s new RTX 5050 lands with almost zero fanfare and, spoiler alert, doesn’t do much to change the budget-GPU game. In real-world 1080p and 1440p tests it trails behind competitors like Intel’s B580 and AMD’s RX 9060 XT, while its frame-generation and latency results barely move the needle. When you factor in Nvidia’s confusing marketing, a lackluster value proposition, and middling productivity/AI performance, it really feels like a card destined for cheap prebuilts rather than gamers who care about bang for their buck.

Bottom line: unless you’re absolutely tied to Nvidia’s ecosystem or need the tiniest sliver of RTX acceleration, you’re better off saving up for a higher-tier model or exploring AMD and Intel alternatives. This feels less like an “RTX” revolution and more like Nvidia mailing it in at the entry level.
