Linus Tries VR From 1994
Linus Sebastian dusts off a beige, DOS-era VR headset to see how true “cutting-edge” tech looked when Quake, Rise of the Triad and Descent were king. He straps it on, dodges pixelated enemies and even finds a few surprises in those chunky CRT displays and primitive head-tracking.
After gaming, he cracks open the unit to show off its guts—think heavy straps, low-res screens and a hefty dose of nostalgia. It’s a fun reminder of how far VR has come since the days of megahertz, megabytes and very questionable ergonomics.
