Linus Tries 1994 VR
Linus digs out a chunky, beige-era VR headset from the days of DOS and 486 processors to see if early virtual reality lived up to the hype. He boots into classic shooters—Quake, Rise of the Triad and Descent—and is surprised by how playable (and occasionally thrilling) those pixelated worlds feel, despite the clunky hardware.
After blasting bots and admiring retro graphics, he breaks down the 90s tech under the hood: big headsets, slow refresh rates and tiny fields of view. Spoiler: It’s a far cry from today’s slick VR, but it’s way more fun than you’d expect.
