Our Nerdiest Upgrade Yet: AMD $5000 Ultimate Tech Overhaul
We teamed up with AMD to give Robert Oakes a jaw-dropping $5K makeover, building a custom NAS for video editing and data storage around a Ryzen 7 5800XT, MSI PRO B550M-VC WiFi board, Jonsbo N5 case, 32 GB DDR4 RAM and speedy NVMe drives. On top of that, we hooked up a Samsung HW-Q800D soundbar, Focusrite Scarlett Solo audio interface, Sony FX30 camera and a stack of storage cards—perfect for any creator’s home-office setup.
But it’s not all work and no play: we unpacked Funko Pops, lightsabers, even a vintage VCR, shared DIY tips for squeezing extra performance out of AMD hardware, and tested out Linus’s favorite screwdriver. From spooky-season “SPOOKSTAKES” to budget-friendly collectible hunting, this video is packed with PC-building laughs, gear reviews and Floatplane-exclusive content.
