TL;DR

Linus and the gang got fed up with the steep prices on server racks, so they decided to hack together their own using an IKEA LACK table and 8U rack rails from Reliable Hardware Company. After hashing out the rules and sketching a plan, they ran through multiple build attempts—tweaking, reinforcing, and fine-tuning—to see if a budget DIY rig could really hold all their home-lab and music gear.
