Cloud gaming has finally leveled up in 2025, with Nvidia’s GeForce NOW delivering surprisingly smooth, low-latency play on titles like Indiana Jones, Borderlands 4 and Apex Legends. After testing against a high-end local rig (Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RTX 5080, 4K/240 Hz OLED), the cloud versions held their own, proving streaming tech can match physical hardware in many scenarios.

That said, “good” doesn’t always mean “better” – leaning on servers instead of your own rig raises questions about ownership, control and long-term value. Even if performance is rock-solid, is giving up your hardware really the future you want?
