Terrible News, Cloud Gaming is Good Now
Linus and the crew put Nvidia’s GeForce NOW through its paces in Indiana Jones, Borderlands 4 and Apex Legends, pitting it against a souped-up local rig (Ryzen 7 9800X3D + RTX 5080, fancy OLED monitor, the works). Surprisingly, frame rates, latency and input response were all eerily close to the home-built setup—cloud gaming isn’t just “good enough” anymore, it’s basically imperceptible.
The kicker? This could totally upend the “own your hardware” mindset. If you can stream AAA titles with near-zero compromise, why bother dropping serious cash on GPUs? The rise of cloud play might spell trouble for PC-part purists, even as it opens the door to gaming anywhere, on anything.
