Veritasium: Something Weird Happens When E= mc

In this Veritasium video, Derek Muller dives into Paul Dirac’s groundbreaking work showing that plugging E = −mc² into quantum equations spits out “negative energy” solutions. After dissecting the flaws in the Schrödinger and Klein–Gordon equations and walking us through Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, we get to the Dirac equation—and bam!—Dirac predicts antimatter. Cue the anti-electron, particles that behave as if they’re moving backward in time, and the tantalizing idea of a whole anti-world.

Alongside the physics deep-dive are the usual Veritasium perks: a Hostinger sponsorship, an exclusive tabletop game offer, and major props to experts like Graham Farmelo and Cumrun Vafa. You’ll also find timestamps for every twist, plus links to archives, references, and the fantastic team that made it all happen.
