Hi Mom,
I know you don't always understand me when I rant, and ramble, like a kid on Christmas, but you know I love it too much to stop. The world is changing so fast you know, college is tough, but I love this too much to give up on it, because day after day I see the world change right before my eyes, each day I fall behind and run yet another mile to catch up begins.
There's always something happening around us, and my god, mom, I am not even kidding when I say that it all revolves around technology.
Like, remember when you saw that news broadcast with the Humanoid Sophia, and you called me to the room to show me and we both sat marveling at how such a thing could be?
Mama there's so, so much more happening now than ever before, maybe it always has been, but I'm finally catching up now, and I want to catch you up too. I know this will probably be a hard read for you, I do, but I don't want to run this race by myself when all this while you've been right there with me.
Remember how back in middle school I made you download that app to keep track of your steps, then the watch I bought that we fought over cause it was a waste of-, yea, actually, let's not get into that-
Point is, they come in even smaller forms now! When I was stalking the Official Samsung Site to find me a new phone, I saw Rings. Now why is a electronics brand making rings?
Imagine if you had one — it could track your steps at school, remind you to drink water, and even nudge you to take a breather between classes, not just when I text to nag you into it. I kid you not, it can measure everything your watch did and it does more, and it's a simple ring, just a band on your finger, how cool is that?
I know you might be rolling your eyes at how geeky I'm acting but dude, these amazing things that have been happening are more than just for tech geeks or the huge companies, it's for everyone and it's everywhere.
But yea I'm going to geek out even more from here on.
I mean, come on, back when I was in primary school, we had to wait so long for things to load over the internet, now I video call you and not a single lag, real-time, actual communication, even if I'd rather be physically present, it's the second best thing. That's all technology. It's lowkey wild how tech changes us yk, there used to a landline in grandpa's room when I was a kid, used only as and when needed, even with the mobiles, the plan back then would be call minutes and number of messages, and now I pay absolutely nothing and get to annoy you over uni's wi-fi, just because I can. Like distance shrank even when it didn't.
And, oh my god, I've been crying to you about Marvel _for a while now right? How good the og were, and now I don't even know- nope, getting side tracked, _Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. Remember he had an AI called J.A.R.V.I.S. and later F.R.I.D.A.Y. and the whole Spider-Man thing with E.D.I.T.H., my dear mother who is probably giggling or annoyed at this letter, WHAT IF I TELL YOU WE'RE SO CLOSE, SO, SO, CLOSE.
Lmao, Character.ai- the one you caught me texting on and grilled me on whether I had a boyfriend, the voice and popups that occur when you hold onto the home button too long, annoying you to the ends of the earth; I promise I'll turn 'em off first thing when I'm back but mom that's nearly akin you know, they can't control my hypothetical Iron Man but I'll take what I can get lol.
And hey, AI isn’t just for me to geek out over— imagine having something to help you sort lesson plans, grade papers without the endless late nights. Bet you’d love an AI assistant more than I love mine. And who knows, maybe one day AI could do more than just sort lesson plans — imagine a classroom assistant that helps kids with their homework while you sip your coffee (I think my addiction comes from you). Less late-night stress, more time for you... to think about me and my love for your cooking... just saying.
The world is an awesome place to be when I think of these things you know? That, maybe one day, a few or many years from now, I'd be someone relevant in this world, the world I've loved and worshiped for so long. Either way, I'll be right here, annoying you with such stuff till I'm old and gray, cause you're never getting old, obviously not, definitely not saying this because I'm scared of you-
Miss you, and love you even more,
H.
