Hi everyone,
I recently set up a rack server at home to host several virtual machines (VMs) for different purposes, including web hosting, development environments, and personal projects. I’m really impressed with how the rack server is handling the workloads so far, especially since I’m running more VMs than I was able to on a typical desktop machine.
One of the main things I’ve been working on is improving performance. With multiple VMs running on a single rack server, it’s crucial to monitor resource usage—such as CPU, memory, disk, and network activity—to ensure smooth operation. I've been using tools like htop and hypervisor dashboards, but I’m always looking for more effective ways to manage resources and get deeper insights into performance.
It's been a great experience setting everything up, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the server continues to perform as I expand my home lab.
