Do you think that the technology we use is just making our lives easier and more efficient? I don't think so. Yes, its whole purpose is that, but I feel it has done more than just being an efficient tool in our lives. I am a kid who got to see a button phone evolve into a smartphone, fax to WhatsApp, and manual-style vehicles to electronic and automatic vehicles. These technologies are great for humans as they have made our lives super easy. I would like to share some of my best experiences with these technologies.
I am living far away from my family and staying alone in a city I have never been to before. I used to live with my parents until my graduation. I had never been separated from them for this long or this far. Now, my daily routine is to talk with my parents via video call. Neither of my parents used to use video calls, but they taught themselves to use those apps so that I could see and talk to them. To be very honest, if I weren’t able to see my parents, I would not be able to stay away from them. But now, I feel connected with them every day through video calls without feeling homesick. I feel safe with a smartphone where I can share my live location with my parents, and they can feel relaxed knowing exactly where I am. The person reading this may think that this isn't a big deal compared to other technologies like smart home devices, artificial intelligence, and biomedical technology. From my perspective, my home is where my parents are, and I can feel their presence through technology.
