I'm writing this letter to you, as you turn 3.5 years in March 2025 :)
Wish you both a very joyous and prosperous life ahead my son and daughter !
As I look back at my life, i was wondering what's life hold in-store for you.
Things are changing fast, from a life threatening situation of covid to the growth of AI...world has come a long way in just couple of years.
When I started my career 17 years back,internet used to be a big thing , now I see the same with AI. As it's evolving and getting better day by day. The day is not far that until when you guys will start schooling , it will be mainstream and when you turn 25 , I can't imagine even what it would be like !
Keeping the pace of technology in mind, I would like to write to you on some aspects which I think would help you guys when you grow up.
Here are some points :
Education
Starting from our days, I never understood some of the concepts or subjects e.g. chemistry was very difficult. Though I have interest in maths but some of things nobody could explain me .Tuitions were normal those days and even today.
Luckily, for you there is AI, you don't need tuitions...take a topic and ask in prompt that "Be my teacher and explain me the concepts of algebra from scratch" and it will help you. Oh yes ! you can ask those stupid questions which you have in mind because nobody is watching !
You have the whole of world via these AI chatbots, you can learn on any topic . How amazing it would be , something which your teacher couldn't explain you in that easy language, you might be able to get it with the help of AI.
But Alas ! here comes the catch, these AI systems are not full proof as of now, you might have to exercise caution and cross verify if what you are getting out of it is true.
These systems are improving and we hope that when you start they are mature enough that you don't get un-verified information.
Jobs
The future jobs might not be same which we are doing. All those jobs will have a flavour of AI in it(it's already started !), So let's talk about some job roles:
- Programming will be assisted function or might be fully matured via AI agents.
- Marketing AI would be helping in generating campaigns and guiding on which content would be better and which would not.
Doctor : AI would be better than doctors in identifying the disease based on reports, while doctors would be good in prescribing the medicine and further, AI enabled robots would be very common in cases of surgery.
Travel : Well always go for travel...it soothes your senses, helps you get new perspective...So always travel..if you want to plan your itinerary, just ask AI , it would prepare the whole itinerary ,it will also book the best flights and hotels available.
you want to travel within city or country side, pick up Self-driving car and it will take care of reaching destination without much of an effort.
Dating
Not an issue ! Just reach out to AI agent , who would ask for your preferences and based on your preferences ,will interact with other similar dating agents(which is setup by other people with their preferences) and if found matching, will shortlist and ask for a meeting! At the end you need to make effort to engage, interact and decide whether to go ahead or not but at least AI will take away that time consuming part of finding the right people who meets your preferences.
It took me years to find your mom....at last I'm proud....I made the right decision !
Drones
You will see lot of drones flying here and there and becoming common part of life . Drones will be used as flying taxis, delivering food and goods . Drones anyhow are quite common in battlefields as we saw in Ukraine and Russia war and US is using to kill terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan but there is a human being sitting in background taking that final call.
In future , we will see drones doing end to end tasks with sophisticated algorithm's without the need of human beings. That will be quite a scary thing to imagine sometimes but that's how the reality is !
Financial world
Virtual currencies would be leading the world. After covid, lot of transactions moved to UPI(united payment interface) and in fact some governments have launched virtual currencies , So in future you might not need cash at all.
If we talk about stocks, Algorithmic trading would be common, all the individuals would be trading via algorithmic trading which is fast and reliable .
At the end remember the fact that AI gives us an opportunity to build a more humane society. People will have time by their side and they will be lonely, So something where they can truly impact based on human values , something which creates humanistic services will be a good business e.g. trained coaches for sports, Nature guides, conversation partners for elderly , Compassionate Caregivers etc.. are some of the roles.
Beyond the established roles in sharing economy, we will see entirely new service jobs emerge which we can hardly imagine today.
I can hope that this synergy between man & machine creates a truly loving society going forward. With that in mind would like to finish and wish you Good luck in your endevours !
