Linus and William Osman teamed up to build the craziest portable NAS ever – nicknamed the “A.S.S.” – cramming 15.36 TB NVMe SSDs, 18 TB HDDs, a Ryzen 9 9950X3D brain, and a mini-ITX server board into a suitcase-friendly rig. Between paint tips, camera shenanigans and the most painful drive drop of 2025, they turned a janky idea into a high-capacity video vault.
They unveiled the whole process at OpenSauce, complete with chapter markers and links to every part (GaN PSU, SAS adapter, Unifi switch, you name it). It’s a fun, informal dive into one of Linus Media’s wildest NAS builds in ages.
