Linus Tech Tips (LTT): Linus Tries VR From 1994

Linus Tries VR From 1994

Linus unboxes and straps on an awkwardly beige, DOS-era VR headset from ’94, marveling at how rudimentary yet ambitious it felt back when megahertz and megabytes ruled. He boots up Quake and is genuinely excited to see 3D combat in an era when VR was basically science fiction—complete with blocky graphics, choppy frame rates, and surprisingly immersive head tracking.

Over the next few chapters he tackles Rise of the Triad and Descent, noting that for its time the hardware actually holds up better than expected. After testing performance, comfort, and build quality, he dives into the headset’s guts—showing off the chunky controllers, display tech, and the quirks that made early VR both revolutionary and hilariously flawed.
