Cloud gaming has come a long way: Nvidia’s GeForce NOW in 2025 can stream heavy hitters like Indiana Jones, Borderlands 4 and Apex Legends with impressively smooth framerates. Linus tested cloud vs local setups and found the gap much smaller than you’d expect—making PC gaming feel more flexible than lugging around high-end hardware or waiting for your next upgrade.
That said, latency and input lag still rear their ugly heads in competitive shooters, so local rigs keep the edge when every millisecond counts. But for most gamers craving simplicity and convenience, cloud gaming is suddenly a pretty compelling deal—even if it feels “terrible” to admit you might not need your own $3 k rig anymore.
