WAN Show Highlights – October 24, 2025
Amazon’s AWS went down hard thanks to a DNS hiccup, taking out everything from Twitch to Steam’s Big Picture mode and reminding us that even the cloud isn’t invincible. Gabe’s CS2 update sent its market cap tumbling to $3 billion amid rumors of Chinese investor shenanigans, Linus mused on real vs. virtual gear, and—would you believe it—jet engines are now being eyed to power data centers. We also got our first look at Samsung’s AI-powered Galaxy XR headset and had a deep dive into neural interfaces for future smart glasses.
On the lighter side, YouTube rolled out a new tool to spot AI-faked videos of your favorite creators, police once again mistook a bag of Doritos for a firearm (what’s next, Cheetos?), and Microsoft quietly demanded a 30% cut from Xbox developers. There were soft-lock dramas with budget SuperBox consoles, OpenAI’s Atlas vs. Microsoft’s Mico showdown, and plenty of LTT banter—from Trump’s Canada trade talks to Dan’s funeral boat fantasies—keeping things equal parts informative and entertaining.
