Linus Tech Tips (LTT): Something is Living in my Pool-Cooled Gaming PC

Something Is Living in My Pool-Cooled Gaming PC

Linus and the team discover that after solving the big corrosion problem in their pool-water–cooled LAN Center rigs, a mysterious biofilm has started growing in the cooling loops—complete with a funky smell. They strip down the PCs, sprinkle in some preventative silver-ion tech, and even bust out a UV “death ray” to nuke whatever’s thriving in the pipes.

After a few rounds of testing and loop-flushing, they finally figure out which combo of biocide, filtering, and UV light actually keeps the water clean (spoiler: plain pool water just isn’t enough). In the end, it’s all about dialing in the right maintenance routine if you ever plan to cool your PCs with your backyard swimming pool.
